“…the self as a relational process…” - Sue Johnson
Individual Therapy
$150 per session
I work best with individuals who are seeking to:
recover from infidelity
explore family-of-origin dynamics
address anxious, avoidant, or disorganized attachment styles
integrate grief into their life
My work with individuals is experiential and attachment-based. We learn how to process and express emotion in the context of relationships with our attachment figures (parents and partners, most notably). When attachment relationships go awry, anxious and depressive symptoms often appear as a result of impaired emotional regulation. Our attachment relationships also inform our self-esteem and confidence. We’ll explore how relationships with attachment figures throughout your life have shaped your sense of self and your emotional landscape, before actively creating new, more satisfying patterns.
Personal work on your attachment-style can also be a helpful adjunct to couple’s therapy, particularly if there has been an infidelity. Individual therapy provides a safe and spacious environment where you are able to zero-in on stuck-spots in your personal healing journey.
Grief can be particularly challenging to assimilate when it involves the death of someone you had an attachment relationship with (a partner, parent, child, best friend, etc.). Individual therapy can provide a gentle, affirming space to honor your relationship with the loved one, and explore how their life and loss have impacted your identity.
